YPAC at a glance

The Youth Parliament to the Alpine Convention – YPAC – was initiated by a group of teachers and students at an Austrian secondary school, Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck, and the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention. It brings together young people from different Alpine countries and regions to discuss current Alpine issues in a parliamentary simulation. It aims to provide an insight into parliamentary structures and current issues affecting the Alpine region. It is also a platform for cultural exchange and networking among young people.

YPAC sessions take place once a year and the participating schools take turns in hosting them. Past sessions of parliament took place in Innsbruck in 2006, 2007 and 2017, Maribor in 2008 and 2018, Meran/o in 2009 and 2019, Rosenheim in 2010 and 2025, Herisau/Trogen in 2011 and 2021 (online), Vaduz in 2012 and 2022 (online), Sonthofen in 2013 and 2023, Chamonix in 2014, Kamnik in 2015 and 2024 and Bassano del Grappa in 2016. YPAC 2020 in Rosenheim had to be cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. YPAC 2021 and 2022 were organized as online conferences by our partner schools in Trogen and Vaduz respectively. The next YPAC session will take place in Chamonix in March 2026.

The topics closely follow the protocols of the Alpine Convention. Read our Handbook for more information.
