YPAC at a glance

The Youth Parliament to the Alpine Convention – YPAC – was founded by an Austrian secondary school, Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck, and the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention. It brings together young people from different Alpine countries and areas to discuss current topics regarding the Alpine region in a parliamentary simulation. It aims at giving insights into parliamentary structures as well as current topics which are of concern to the Alpine region. Moreover, it is a platform for cultural exchange and networking among young people.

YPAC sessions take place once a year and the participating schools take turns in hosting them. Past sessions of parliament took place in Innsbruck (2006 / 2007 / 2017), Maribor (2008 / 2018), Meran/o (2009 / 2019), Rosenheim (2010), Herisau / Trogen (2011), Vaduz (2012), Sonthofen (2013), Chamonix (2014), Kamnik (2015) and Bassano del Grappa (2016). YPAC 2020 in Rosenheim had to be cancelled due to Corona restrictions. YPAC 2021 was organised as an online conference by our partner school in Trogen. The next YPAC session will take place in Vaduz in March 2022. The topics closely follow the protocols of the Alpine Convention.
